Pakistan opens Torkham Border for 3 days and lets Afghan nationals cross the border into thousands

Is Pakistan exporting corona virus to Afghanistan? A video circulating on social media shows thousand of people crossing the Torkham border on Durand Line. Mostly men, a number of them are wearing face masks. The flock of men runs out in a group as soon the border opens. They run to their country untested. It is yet unknown how many of them had contracted corona virus in Pakistan.

It creates a serious question with regards to spread of corona virus across the border. There are over 500 corona virus positive cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The total cases in Pakistan are also over 4000.

The corona travel to Pakistan is widely believed to be from Iran and Saudi Arabia. The data shows that pilgrims and visitors from these countries brought the virus from outside.

Afghanistan has reported less than 500 cases and only 14 deaths until now. However, such a measure from Pakistan may impact the situation in Afghanistan badly.
