Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most famous Indian actors in the Bollywood industry. He was born on 2 November 1965 and he would turn 60 years old by 2025. He is one of the most celebrated individuals in the Indian film industry where he has played several roles of heroes, villains and side characters with same zeal and commitment. A very few people know the humble beginnings of Shah Rukh Khan as a young star willing to act. He would often find roles in the industry and wait for producers and directors for hours. Yet, he wouldn’t be considered for any major movie.

He started his career in early 1980’s. However, it wasn’t a very impressive start. He was one of the ordinary actors for several years. It was only in the year 1992 that he got the chance to work in a movie. The first movie of Shah Rukh Khan was Deewana in 1992.

His second and third films were Baazigar and Darr in 1993 respectively. After these movies, Shah Rukh Khan was putting his mark as a top romantic hero in different subsequent movies. He was a lead role in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… (2001), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) and Veer-Zaara (2004). He earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of an alcoholic in Devdas (2002), a NASA scientist in Swades (2004), a hockey coach in Chak De! India (2007) and a man with Asperger syndrome in My Name Is Khan (2010). Further commercial successes came with the romantic dramas Om Shanti Om (2007) and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008), and with his expansion to comedies in Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Year (2014). Following a brief setback and hiatus, Khan made a career comeback with the action film Pathaan (2023), which became the second-highest-grossing Hindi release.

Shah Rukh Khan has appeared in more than 90 films. He has received several awards and prizes. He was awarded film fare awards for 14 times. He has also been awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India.

In 2015, Khan launched motion picture production company Red Chilies Entertainment and its subsidiaries as co-chairman. He is also the co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders and the Caribbean Premier League team Trinbago Knight Riders. The media often label him as “Brand SRK” because of his many endorsement and entrepreneurship ventures. He is also a frequent television presenter and stage show performer.

Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan has a huge following in India. However, his ancestry resides in India’s arch rival Pakistan.
