The new policy draws a complete new direction to ensure indigenous mechanism and enhances local standards.

PTI Government to change and adopt new education policy after 34 years. It is moving towards approval from the Cabinet as New Education Policy 2020. The Education policy is changing after 34 years. Further, the remarkable things about the new education policy are as follows:

The first 5 Years, often known as Fundamentals, are: 

1. Nursery @ 4 Years

2. Jr KG @ 5 Years

3. Sr KG @ 6 Years

4. 1st standard @ 7 Years

5. 2nd standard @ 8 Years

The later 3 Years are termed as Preparatory. These include:

  • 3rd standard @ 9 Years
  • 4th standard @ 10 Years
  • 5th standard @ 11 Years

The next 3 Years in the Middle include:

  • 6th standard @ 12 Years
  • 7th standard @ 13 Years
  • 8th standard @ 14 Years

The last 4 Years of schooling often known as Secondary will be include:

  • 9th standard @ 15 Years
  • SSC standard @ 16 Years
  • FYJC standard @ 17Years
  • SYJC standard @ 18 Years

Important Aspects of Education Policy 2020

The important aspects of Education Policy 2020 include:

  • There will be board in 12th class only, and no board exam in 10th grade.
  • 4 years of college degree will be followed as a standard. 
  • The MPhil program will also be closed.

Moreover, the students up to 5th will be taught in mother tongue, local language and national language only. The rest of the subjects, even if it is English, will be taught as a subject.

The examination will be done in the semester form from 9th to 12th class. Further, the schooling will be done under the 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 formula as mentioned ahead. The college degree will be awarded on 3 and 4 years basis i.e., a certificate will be given on the first year of graduation, diploma on the second year, degree in the third year. The 3-year degree is for those students who do not have to take higher education. At the same time, students doing higher education will have to do a 4-year degree. The students doing 4 years degree will be able to do MA in one year.

PhD Degree in Pakistan

The most important aspect of this policy relates to higher education. The students will not have to do MPhil. Rather, the masters students will now be able to do PhD directly. The students will be able to do other courses in between. Moreover, gross enrollment ratio will be 50 percent by 2035 in higher education.

At the same time, if a student wants to do another course in the middle of a course, then he can take a second course by taking a break for a limited time from the first course under the new education policy.

Many reforms have also been made in higher education. The improvements include graded academic, administrative and financial autonomy etc. Apart from this, e-courses will be started in regional languages. Further, virtual Labs will be developed. Moreover, a National Educational Scientific Forum (NESF) will be started.

There are 45 thousand colleges in the country. Thus, the policy proposes uniform rules. Thus, there will be uniform rules will be for all government, private, and semi-government institutions. The new academic session under this policy will start soon.
