Palestinians observe Day of Rage against President Macron

French President is getting pressure from the Muslim World for his actions against the Islam’s Prophet.

Palestinians observe Day of Rage against President Macron. As Palestinian groups called for Day of Rage to defend prophet Mohammed (PBUH), thousands of Palestinians across the occupied Palestinian territories staged rallies against French President Emmanuel Macron. There were following his comments that insulted the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and Islam. They are calling him to present apology.

This happens despite the spread of Covid19 and the high number of deaths in occupied Jerusalem and 1948 territories (or what is called Israel). Several Palestinians took to the streets condemning the racist statement by Macron. A  protest was also held in front of the French Embassy in Israel.

In addition, several owners of many shops in the towns of occupied Jerusalem announced their boycott of French products. This is in protest against the offence to Islam and the Prophet Muhammad. Pictures show the shelves of several shops containing French products emptied. 

Blocking French Products

The campaigns to empty store shelves of French products were not limited to Jerusalem stores. It also extended to some other shops in the West Bank, Gaza and the occupied territories. 

The head of the political office of the Islamic Movement in 1948 occupied territories, Ibrahim Hijazi states his point. He says, “We hold Macron responsible for the spread of the hate speech and racism against Muslims in France. He also blames for rattling of Muslim feelings in France and the world.”

In the besieged Gaza strip also, Palestinians organized several rallies where protesters were holding dozens of signs criticizing Macron and even burning photographs of the French president. During the protests, several Palestinian faction leaders and scholars delivered  speeches condemning the hatred speech by Marcon and calling for him to apologize. 

The spokesperson of The Association of Palestinian Scholars in Gaza said “Insulting religions and prophets is not a matter of freedom of expression. Rather, it promotes a culture of hatred.”

Similar protests were staged in many cities and Towns in the occupied West Bank. Protesters waved banners and chanted slogans defending the prophet. Some banners read “Our prophet is a Red Line”, “An insult to our prophet is an insult to Muslims across the World.”

Dozens of sit-ins were held during the last week. And other actions will be organised as this event coincides with the Mawlid holiday, which celebrates Prophet Muhammad’s’ birthday. 

Macrons’ statements triggered a worldwide backlash after he indicated France would not stop publishing satirical cartoons, including those of the Prophet Mohammed. Thus, Palestinians observe Day of Rage against President Macron.
