The tests raised alarm with the positive case of an animal. The zoo initiated testing of other animals who were in contact with the infected tiger. It came out that the others also showed symptoms. Now, they are conducting tests for other animals.

The report claims that a tiger showed symptoms of corona virus such as dry cough. The zoo tested the 4-year-old tiger as a precaution to assess if it has contracted the virus.

This positive report is the first ever case of an animal or pet getting corona virus. Until now, animals were not being tested for corona virus. It was said that corona virus does not affect the animals or pets.

The World Health Organization and other international organizations have been continuously stating that the animals are not at risk of corona virus. Yet, this new case may open up a new scenerio.

It may be the case where the virus genes are different. The high mortality rate and type of infection in American cases is one such example. This may be the reason that it is starting to infect animals also. But, this case is a single one reported, that too in the United States.

So, it may be the case that the virus would affect the animals in some countries only. However, this is the first instance and a detailed examination of the transfer of Covid-19 between humans and animals will be confirmed later.
