Several Police Officers are in quarantine as Corona Virus spreads across the province

KP Police seeks food in quarantine. As the cases of corona virus rise in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it is also affecting police officers. An officer of KP Police in Abbottabad, Mr. Majid Abbasi talks about facilities in these quarantine.

Mr. Abbasi claims that there is no food or doctors in these quarantine center. He uploads a video message to share the plight.

Mr. Abbasi, along with his companions, was sent to quarantine center in District Headquarter hospital (DHQ) in Abbottabad after testing positive for corona virus.

Earlier, 22 officers of KP Police, including a senior officer were also held in quarantine in Haripur district. Abbottabad and Haripur are close to each other in distance.

Mr. Majid Abbasi and his companions serve in KP Police. Meanwhile, in lock-down, their postings were on check posts on different points in Abbottabad district.

He says, “We are testing positive but we do not have symptoms of corona. There is no doctor is for us”. He further adds, “We do not want doctors, we are good. But we want proper food to hold fast”.

In an emotional video message, he says, “we believe in the death and we will die one day, corona cannot kill us. We do not want to die of hunger (though)”.

NDMA Claims

According to NDMA, the quarantine center in District Headquarter Hospital Abbottabad consists of 52 beds. Sixty-six ventilators have been arranged for corona ­virus patients in the Abbottabad district whereas 26 are operational in Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) and 40 are in different private hospitals of Abbottabad, says Ab­bottabad Deputy Commissioner Sanaullah Mughees.

Mr. Abbasi feels that he contracted corona virus while performing his official duty. He questions the administration of Abbottabad and asks, “what is their crime?” He further adds, “We were on duty when tested positive.”

Government Claims

KP government is claims that it is providing best health facilities. However, it does not look like when we see the reality on ground..

The administration is providing only 2 breads and potatoes with gravy. Further, he also claims to be given leftover food. The bread that he is showing in the video also looks like leftover item. It clearly shows a lack of proper health or food facilities in these quarantine centers.

There are lesser facilities for getting any essential items in these quarantine. Mr. Abbasi claims that he has money but he cannot buy anything.

The sources say that the policemen were quarantined for remaining in direct contact with the pilgrims going to Abbottabad and Mansehra districts while returning from Iran.
