Indian media gives top coverage to Asim Bajwa’s resignation

The news broke like wildfire in India as a top Pakistani General resigned from his position after allegations of misuse of power

Indian media gives top coverage to Asim Bajwa’s resignation. A number of leading Indian publications put it as a top story on their pages. Lt. General Asim Bajwa is the Chairman of CPEC Authority. He was also serving as Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting in an honorary capacity.

The case of Lt. General Bajwa came into limelight as a publication titled FactFocus published a damning report on his assets details. It was shared that General Bajwa’s family owns huge stakes in US and UAE based companies. Moreover, the report states that General Bajwa did not declare these assets in his latest declaration.

Resultant, General Bajwa chose to resign from his position of SAPM. As this announcement came, the news was highlighted across Pakistan.

However, a strong interest was seen on the other side of border. The Indian media claims that General Bajwa’s earning was due to his posting as staff of General Pervez Musharraf.

It may be noted that General Bajwa has remained as Commander of the Southern Command in Pakistan. In this capacity, he has fought with several insurgencies in Balochistan. Pakistan claims these insurgencies to be Indian sponsored. And, General Bajwa has been effectively controlling the insurgencies in the recent past.

The Indian Express, Times of India and several other publications brought special stories on the development.

Thus, it seems that the news of General Bajwa’s resignation has been one of the most interesting news for the Indian side.
