The Indian businessmen have contributed
Yes, you read it right. The Indian businessmen have contributed a whopping 5000 Pakistani crores in the fight against corona virus.
Amid corona virus, the Indian businessmen have contributed more than 2400 Indian crores to help the poor and vulnerable segments. The major cash contribution came from TATA group which gave an amount of INR 1500 crores, or PKR 3200 crores. It makes 2.20 Pakistani rupees (PKR) for 1 Indian rupee (INR).
Similarly, the Jindal Steel Group has contributed an amount of INR 100 crores which makes it PKR 220 crores. Another business group, Adani has also contributed INR 100 crores. The Bajaj Group also gave out INR 100 crores. The Shree Cement gave free masks and PPE worth INR 70 crores which is worth PKR 150 crores.
Apart from it, the famous Indian business tycoon has donated a 100 bed hospital to fight the corona virus.
Similarly, the JSW group and Vedanta Anil Agarwal have also contributed INR 100 crores each. A number of other businessmen have contributed amounts of INR 10 crore to 50 crores to help Indian government in its fight against Corona.
Patanjali, a herbal products manufacturing company in India also donated INR 25 crores for PMCARES fund of Narendra Modi.
The response of the common man?
At the same time, the zeal of Indian common man is also visible. A number of twitter users reported their contributions for Indian PM’s fund to fight against corona virus. One such user’s twitter submission is given below:
This Indian response shows the level of trust and commitment the Indian people have in their nation.
How did Pakistani businesses respond?
On the other hand, there seems little or no response on the other side of border.
So far, there has been no significant philanthropic response from any business tycoon or industrial group in Pakistan. A few TV channels have started donation collection campaigns. Yet, the level of response from Indian side gives Pakistan a lesson to learn.
