It is essential to review the type of panels, inverters and the PV mounting in your solar system.

Here is a simple guide to install solar system at your home or office. Everyone is installing the solar systems at their homes. But there remains a fact that no one is knowing various facts on the working of these systems. One can easily get into the hands of cheating firms, companies or individuals who may sell you a counterfeit product. Or, they may also throw you into a quagmire by installing a low quality product. And then, there are so many issues to think before installing your solar system. We take a look at different types of products in a solar system and guide you through the process.

Solar Panels

When we talk about a solar system, the panels have a key role. Actually, it is the panel which receives energy (through sunlight) and it transmits this energy to your inverter or electric meter. The quality of this panel is the main ingredient for longer life of your system. A number of companies are producing solar panels these days. However, one cannot trust these companies due to one major fact. There are various counterfeit panels in the market. Thus, one should ensure that they are getting the panels from verified suppliers only.

Then, the second major challenge is the types of panels in the market. There are various categories of solar panels. There is a grading system known as Tier-1, Tier-2 or Tier-3 panels. In common language, this means the first, second or third class category of the product. More troublesome is the fact that it is very difficult to find the category of these panels if you do not understand the nitty gritty of solar panels. Thus, we again recommend that you should contact some known entity or verifiable company to install your solar panels.

Inverters for Solar Systems

The second major product in your solar system is the inverter. The inverter is like the heart of solar system. It plays a key role in entire functioning. Actually, it receives the energy from sun through panels. It checks the strength of this energy and converts into electricity.

It also plays a multifunctional role by putting your system on public grid, direct solar energy or off-grid system i.e. batteries. Thus, the quality of your inverter is also key to the better utilization of solar system.

The challenge for solar inverters is also the same. There are several types of inverters with quality types. Then, there is another major challenge. There is also availability of counterfeit inverters in different markets, especially the third world countries. So, you need to consider your tye of inverter before installing the system.

PV Mounting

PV Mounting is not a primary factor but it does matter in the functioning of your solar system. It refers to placement of panels as per the latitude/longitude criteria. It follows the sun’s rays and places the panel in a direction where it is most efficient. Although, there are several small scale engineering background individuals who can put up your solar system. However, it may not be able to run to its fullest efficiency if PV mounting consideration isn’t done.

Wiring of the Solar System

This is a common mistake we do when we are equipping our homes with cable wiring. We often try to save money and install lower quality cables. Instead, we have to pay with much heavier prices. It is imperative that we use the best quality cables for our solar system.

Although using lower quality may save a few bucks, but it may have major risks in the long term. The lower quality cables are unable to bear load, transmit full energy or handle different capacities. Thus, it also involved a risk of severe damage through blast or system shutdown. We recommend that you should listen to your solar installer on type of cable. And of course, you shouldn’t compromise on this.
