• The social media blogger claims she was raped by Pakistani interior minister in 2011

Cynthia Ritchie launches Go Fund Me campaign to bear living expenses. She is asking for funds from national and international donors for fighting for justice in Pakistan.

She titles her campaign as “Fighting for Justice in Pakistan – Legally.” In her introduction, she shares her background and professional circumstances. “My name is Cynthia Ritchie, and I’m an American communications consultant , writer and filmmaker,” adds, Cynthia. She further informs that she is a world traveler, and her goal has always been to promote positive people-to-people relations via short films and writings.

In her very first paras, she claims her earlier allegation of being raped. “In May 2011, I was raped by a powerful Pakistani Minister who belongs to what is known as the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). I had been in country, staying at a women’s graduate teaching hostel in Islamabad, for 4 months prior to the OBL incident and had a great deal of access to the area and knowledge of certain circumstances,” she adds.

She also shares why she came to Pakistan. “Just prior to this, I originally came to Pakistan as an informal Goodwill Ambassador for the City of Houston during the floods of 2010, and decided to take a job with an INGO. Pakistani-Americans and the Houston Chamber of Commerce helped facilitate my trips,” adds Cynthia.

American Blogger’s Appeal for Funds

In a long statement of 1, 780 words, Cynthia appeals her followers for funds which could support her. “The funds we raise will help pay my legal bills in USA/UK (Poyner Spruill), and Pakistan (Senior Counsel, Ahmad Raza Kasuri and Imran Feroze & Associates), and whatever is left over will help with basic living expenses while I fight these court battles in Pakistan. All funds will go to my bank account at Wells Fargo in USA. I still have my US bank cards and am able to withdraw funds, at a limited daily limit,” adds Cynthia.

She claims that she was forced to stay in government housing after the rape, as she was told Americans were ‘targets’ due to the OBL incident. Her car, driver, cell phone and laptop simply disappeared. She also claims that US Embassy did nothing after she had reported the incident to them.

She ends up with a passionate statement asking for prayers. “Please pray for us and do what you can to help us eliminate this corruption and suppression of women’s voices. My fiancé and I want to move on with peaceful lives, doing good work for others. And I am committed to managing a portion of any settlements for the betterment of the Pakistani people, to genuinely help amplify women’s voices and protect children,” says Cynthia.
