Army tells civilian trainee doctors
An Army hospital in Pakistan has asked the doctors to work without any stipend. The hospital management claims that the hospital is unable to pay any salaries due to Covid-19.
“Due to current situation COVID-19, the hospital may not be able to pay monthly stipend to PG trainees wef 01 Apr 2020. Please give willingness to do training without monthly stipend.” The letter is dated 09 April 2020 and signed by OIC training of the hospital.

A list of 24 doctors is given in the letter. They can continue to get training, but without salary. The post was highlight by a social media user. He claims that the letter is from Combined Military Hospital Okara.
A wave of backlash followed on social media. The users question the timing of letter when the services of doctors are essential.
