The drive-in theatre is likely to revamp the entertainment industry during the corona wave globally

CDA plans to introduce drive-in cinema in Islamabad. The proposal is being taken up in Capital Development Authority to provide entertainment opportunities to the citizens. This is especially imperative due to the second wave of Covid-19. The authority is planning to implement the proposal after taking all precautions including sanitization of area after every show.

During the first wave of corona virus, the citizens of Islamabad faced several issues. As there are limited opportunities to move out without physical interaction. Moreover, it also affected the mental health of citizens. Thus, the Islamabad’s administration is taking precautionary steps to ensure that people can safely enjoy with their friends and families.

As second wave is coming, the government is restricting all public events, restaurants, cinemas, sports and social gatherings. Thus, it creates a strong need to establishing alternative opportunities for the masses.

Currently, no replacement found currently other than consumption of content online – Netflix or YouTube. No public events are taking place currently, any experience is delivered via live sessions or content being uploaded daily. Food consumption entirely has seen a steep decrease across Pakistan but in the new normal home delivery, take away & drive thru are driving sales. All public sporting events have been paused due to the pandemic and doesn’t show any signs of resuming in the future. Moreover, No public gatherings allowed where individuals cannot maintain 6ft distance along with a limit of maximum of 20-25 people across Pakistan.

The ticket booking options would include online and on the spot pick-ups. For online booking, Easyticket or other Digital Payment Solution will be in place. There will be different packages for each place. Car Parking Slot to be given accordingly. Moreover, there will be a ticket purchase corner outside the arena where people can buy tickets on spot.

A drive-in theater or drive-in cinema is a form of cinema structure consisting of a large outdoor movie screen, a projection booth, a concession stand, and a large parking area for automobiles. Within this enclosed area, customers can view movies from the privacy and comfort of their cars.
