2021 is ending but corona is not

Several variants in different forms across the world show that the virus may not be ending soon.

2021 is ending but corona is not. The earlier strains of coronavirus in December 2019 had shocked the world. Although, it appeared in parts of China. The arrival of coronavirus didn’t worry many on the new year’s beginning of 2020. The world did celebrate 2020’s new year with zeal and enthusiasm. One could see the usual dancing, parties and celebrations across the globe. However, it was only until the month of January. The virus started spreading and it was hitting the world by February. One by one, every country closed its doors for foreigners and international travelers. Later, there were bans on intercity travel. It moved towards intracity travel bans. And ultimately, the world had to resort to complete bans, curfews, city closures and the lockdowns.

Resultantly, the world was under a massive lockdown with people stuck in their homes by early 2020. The health practitioners were asking people to impose restrictions by not touching each other and adopt social distancing for protection. The search for a vaccine started soon. A number of global pharmaceutical giants were able to come up with vaccine by end of the year. The world felt safer. It started opening up. The people were holding gatherings, announcing events and concerts, having public marriages and trying to get to the old normal. The only condition was to be vaccinated.

Ending of 2021 and corona

However, a new variant arrived in early 2021. The delta variant was said to be far more dangerous than the older versions of coronavirus. The world had to emphasize on vaccinations, social distancing and following the similar SOPs of protection. Yet, it wasn’t affecting the lives of people in terms of stalling all the activities.

Yet, as the year 2021 is coming to a close, a new virus is appearing amongst different nations. This new virus is still at a nascent stage and the scientists are studying its strain globally. And, since this form is again a new type of virus. No one is clear on its ability to bring about the world to halt again. Yet, the initial research is showing that it may not be very dangerous.

With all this happening, the world is showing resilience by combatting the virus for good 2 years now. And, although, people around the world have learnt to deal with the virus. The coronavirus isn’t letting the world get back to its old normal. The year 2021 is also ending in a few days. Yet, one can only hope that no new form of this virus will appear ahead. And, the people will be able to spend their lives as their predecessors were able to do a 100 years ago.
